A simple recipe for a complex dish
Let's consider the preparation of a traditional Christmas dish using the example of a very budget multicooker Scarlett SC-413. This model boasts only two cooking programs and a preheating mode, which is considered the third program. Of course, in more complex devices of this type, a Christmas turkey can also be cooked. But we will specifically focus on this compact electric saucepan, so that no one has any doubts that any slow cooker can cope with a Christmas turkey. Even one that does not differ in either a high price, a high-profile brand, or a variety of cooking programs.
Such a "high-tech" way of "baking" a turkey has one aesthetic drawback: it will not fit entirely into a slow cooker. But there is also a minor plus. If you didn't get a whole bird in the store, but wings or shins, then this will not spoil your festive dinner. So, first we chop the turkey into portions, which should not be too large. We wash them.
Pour a little vegetable oil, olive or sunflower oil into the bottom of the bowl-pan of the multivark. Cut the lard into small pieces and put it on top of the vegetable oil. It is necessary so that the turkey meat does not turn out to be too dry. Next comes the turn of the turkey slices. The top layer will be orange slices cut into three parts. Add spices and salt to your liking. Any advice will be superfluous here.
Close the lid of the slow cooker and set the "Stew" program or the second program, if we are talking about the Scarlett SC-413. If the smart saucepan is equipped with a timer, it will turn off by itself after the cooking time has elapsed. The standard extinguishing time varies in different slow cookers. If there is no timer, then you should use a kitchen timer or a regular clock. In the model we are considering, cooking a Christmas turkey will take 55 minutes. In other devices in this category, the extinguishing time is usually longer: about one and a half or two hours.
After that, the slow cooker should be turned off, but not opened immediately. The turkey will become softer if it lasts for half an hour with the lid closed. You can hold it for twenty minutes on the heating mode. These are general recommendations. But there are some subtleties that should be remembered. First of all, no water or any other liquid needs to be added. Only vegetable oil and lard. Only in this case, the turkey will taste like baked in the oven, not boiled. You should eat the turkey very carefully, because there are small bones in the meat that turned out during the chopping of the carcass. Looking for a trusted online casino in the UK?
